Resolution of rats entering our property

“We contacted Pestology to resolve an issue with rodents entering our home. We heard scratching noises and scurrying in our cavity walls and in our loft. We initially hired another company whose only tactic was to lay bait and traps and rat proof the inside of the house so the rats could not enter the inside of our house but they never identified how the rodents were getting in. This led to the problem continuing for approx. 9 – 10 weeks and 3 rats dying in the cavity walls of our property due to the poison leading to a terrible smell in the house for 6 – 7 weeks and an infestation of flies in our kitchen and garage from the dead rats. We then decided to contact Pestology and they came and did a full survey of our house including a CCTV survey of all our drains. They immediately identified the issue which was that the rats were entering our house via a redundant pipe from the sewers and another internal pipe, which had a small crack, and led to our ensuite. They then resolved the issue by capping off the redundant pipe and adding a double serrated stainless stell valve to the other pipe. This immediately resolved all the issues and we have had no further issues since then.”

“If you have a rat problem – definitely get Pestology in, they will solve it for you.

We moved into a new build house and one year later we had rats in our kitchen!

Tried the usual pest control companies, including Rentokil, who couldn’t manage the problem and kept advising Poison, which we knew, wouldn’t solve the problem permanently. We had 5 drain surveys and although a redundant drain and uncapped drains were found, they weren’t the cause of the problem! We were at our wits end and after a lot of searching on Google; we came across Pestology and so glad we did. Gulliver answered my enquiry very promptly and within a few days they organised a drain and house survey to be carried out. They travelled to Cheltenham to carry out our survey and work was carried out over another two days. However, unfortunately this didn’t solve the issue and Gulliver then came back to further investigate, travelling back and forth from London on a number of occasions to get to the bottom of the problem. We had an unusual drainage system as we were by a stream and our land drainage system was connected to three other houses but Gulliver and his team were able to work it out and diagnose the problem and put in the necessary 2 way rat valves to stop the rats entering our subfloors from the stream. We are really hopeful that this will be the end of the scratching and scurrying around in our kitchen walls and ceiling that we have had to put up with for the past year and a half. The team at Pestology were great. They answered our email enquires very promptly, explaining their course of action, sending updates and photos after each visit and reassuring us along the way. It’s early days but we’re very hopeful. Definitely recommend this company to anyone who has a rat problem. Don’t waste your money on anyone else.”

Expensive but good

We have struggled with rats in cavity walls for several years. This is our second call-out as we live in a terraced house and just doing the work on our house alone did not solve the issue. Krzysztof Tryba did a second thorough survey and revealed that some roof proofing had not been finished to the required standard. This has been actioned at no further cost. We have now had rat flaps installed in all three manholes of our terrace and the whole lower roofline proofed. Rafal did a fantastic job despite the atrocious weather. The one thing I would recommend to the company is to think about worker safety a bit more. I think jobs should be done in pairs as it often involves working at height and I slippery conditions. Time will tell whether we have got rid of the rodents altogether.

The agent, whose name i believe is Adam, was patient with me and professional in his work by explaining it and showing me. I thought he was only going to rodent proof the bedroom as that’s where I hear them, but he proof living areas where there are holes. Thank you!
